All ultrasounds are performed by a registered diagnostic medical sonographer.  An imaging session lasts approximately 20-30 minutes.

About Our Prenatal Ultrasound Equipment

Baby Pictures Ultrasound uses the Medison SA9900

Medison, a leader in medical imaging, offers you the latest technology available in 3-D/4-D imaging today. The difference between 3-D and 4-D imaging is that you can see clear, moving images of your unborn baby instantly! This live-action technology brings the fourth dimension, time, to 3-D ultrasound. This introduces a whole new level of information of what your baby looks like, and even its personality before he or she enters the world. This represents an incredible leap forward in ultrasound technology and a great opportunity to view your unborn child.

For optimum viewing of the baby, we recommend scheduling an appointment when the expectant mother progresses at least 26 weeks into her pregnancy for a 4-Dimensional Ultrasound, and 20 weeks for a 2-Dimensional.

Learning the baby's gender is optional. Some parents want to be surprised and others want to pick out the name in advance. You can be among the first to own some of these keepsake images. All it takes is a note from your attending physician or midwife and an appointment; rates are reasonable. 

Once scheduled, the visit takes less than one hour, even less for 2-Dimensional pictures. At the end of the visit you will get a variety of photographs and a DVD of baby's first starring role! Gift Certificates are also available.

Cascade adheres strictly to HIPAA and medical regulation, and therefore does not claim these sessions to cover any diagnostic procedures; however, if an obvious anomaly or problem is seen during the course of the session, the attending physician or midwife is notified and an exam with your PCP may be scheduled. 

Tips:

• It is vital that you drink the amount of water your physician recommends (typically 64oz. per day) 1-2 weeks prior to your session or you will not get vivid images.
• To obtain the most accurate images, the best time to perform your session is between 24-34 weeks of pregnancy.
• All moms can come in as early as 16 weeks for gender determination.  Please note, we can tell the sex of the baby but it depends on the cooperation of the baby.
• Mothers with twins should come in before 27 weeks for full development images, and 16-18 weeks to attempt to get them together.
• Heavier set or more full figured mothers should come in around 32-35 weeks (for 3D/4D).
• Keep in mind, all babies love to cuddle and most of the time they keep their hands near their face, sucking their thumbs, rubbing their eyes, etc.

This is not a diagnostic examination.  Our ultrasounds are only available to those moms currently under prenatal care and have undergone their 18-24 week diagnostic scan. Each examination is not covered by your insurance.  It is an out of pocket expense.

3D/4D scanning has the same intensity as 2D ultrasound and has not been proven to cause harm to mothers or baby.  The sonogram uses the same amount of sound waves, just a different probe.
