Simple Screenings Can Be Lifesaving

Atlanta, Georgia - July 16, 2006 - Dr. Farah Williams has a message for residents of Atlanta, and especially East Point, College Park, Southwest Atlanta and surrounding communities: "Your health is your greatest asset; protect and preserve it through wise lifestyle choices and quality healthcare services. Your health is not only an asset, it is your future, and the future of your family." She believes strongly in educating the public and providing affordable healthcare screenings that can be lifesaving.

Dr. Farah Williams is CEO and Chief of Radiology at Cascade Radiology Consultants, P.C., a group practice of Radiologists with several locations in the Atlanta metropolitan area. Cascade Radiology physicians use the latest radiological technology such as MRI, CAT Scans, Ultrasound, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, Angiography and X-Rays to diagnose medical conditions and injuries, reporting their findings in detail to referring physicians.

After starting Cascade Radiology in 1999, Dr Williams quickly realized that quality preventative healthcare is essential in any community. "Lets talk about the benefits of healthcare screenings. Early detection and treatment can help patients avoid severe illness, surgery, and more serious outcomes."

"Annual mammographic screenings have become standard in the fight against breast cancer and are a woman's best chance for detecting breast cancer before it becomes deadly. The community needs to know that there are equally simple and inexpensive tests available that can reveal life threatening conditions that lead to strokes, heart attacks, aortic aneurysms, peripheral arterial disease and prostate cancer." Dr. Williams stresses, "Husbands, wives, friends and families need to value their health and encourage one another to have regular, annual check-ups that include these screenings."

Healthcare professionals report a lot of people avoid diagnostic screenings out of fear, or not wanting to face the fact that there may be a medical concern that needs to be addressed. While remaining in denial, the condition worsens and before they know it, they have lost the window of opportunity to benefit from medication and interventional treatments.
For these reasons, Dr. Williams encourages individuals, employers, churches, and organizations to sponsor Health Fairs and Wellness Programs that make diagnostic screenings and preventive educational programs available to employees and members of their community. Cascade Radiology is available to provide screening services for individuals, groups, churches, and organizations. For more information visit www.cascaderadiology.com
